California's Northern Coast - Point Reyes & Sonoma Wine Country (March-May, October and November)
Scheduled trips: Please contact us to schedule a custom trip!
Trip Cost:
$2,295 - (7 Days & 6 Nights). There is a $300 single supplement charge
Marin and Sonoma counties, just north of San Francisco,
are a walker's paradise. Pacific views, whale-backed hills of grasses and
wildflowers, redwood-fir forests tucked away in secluded valleys - all connected by a
superlative network of footpaths and old roads through state and national parklands.
On the Point Reyes peninsula, we walk a part of the 11-mile Great
Beach, view the Tule Elk herd, and take in views of Tomales Bay and Drake's Estero. We
sample one fine trail after another, from sea level to 2500' on Mount Tamalpais, highest
summit in the coastal area.
Our April date is known for its wildflowers and bird activity,
especially in the heron rookeries above Bolinas Lagoon. The October trip, during the
grape harvest, offers surprising fall foliage, and wonderful fragrances of the vineyards.
There is also the option of calm-water kayaking on Tomales Bay, formed by the San Andreas
Fault anytime.
Two days and nights in Sonoma include some fun wine and
champagne tasting at historic wineries, such as Schramsberg and Ravenswood, to name just
a few. We also follow in the footsteps of Jack
London in the rolling oak-clad foothills of Sonoma Mountain.
We invite you to do a little "California Dreamin'" with us as we show
you the best of this coastline and wine country.
