California Northern Coast - Point Reyes & Sonoma Wine Country (March-May, October and November)
Scheduled trips: Please contact us to set up a custom trip!
Trip Cost:
$1,800 - (7 Days & 6 Nights). There is a $400 single supplement charge
Marin and Sonoma counties, just north of San Francisco,
are a walker's paradise. Pacific views, whale-backed hills of grasses and
wildflowers, redwood-fir forests tucked away in secluded valleys - all connected by a
superlative network of footpaths and old roads through state and national parklands.
On Point Reyes peninsula, the 75,000-acre national seashore
with pristine beaches and gorgeous uplands/bluff walks, we're based 3 nights
out of the Inverness Valley Inn near Tomales Bay. We will walk past the elk
herds on Tomales Point and also do walks on Mt Vision that take in sweeping
panoramas of Drakes Bay as well as Drakes Estero (plus taking in a tour of an
oyster farming operation there). Walks at "land's end" at Pt Reyes take in
Chimney Rock Trail as well as the dramatic steps to the Pt Reyes Lighthouse!
Great food with local cheeses, produce, wine, etc,
highlighted both at picnics and at dinnertimes.
In Sonoma we will be based in the village of Glen
Ellen (either at the Glen Ellen Lodge or the Beltane Ranch). The highlights
include Jack London State Park with its history and wonderful scenery; plus
Sugarloaf State Park with its superb ridge walk. Also, two small, intimate
winery tours and tastings at Bartholomew Park and MacLeod Family Vineyards.
There also will be time to explore the shopping and history of downtown Sonoma
at the Plaza.
Includes most meals
(excepting two dinners and two lunches), wine tours/tastings, and ground
transport from the Larkspur
Airporter shuttle terminal.
This is a special, exclusive trip run by Brett
Poirier for Wonder Walks.
